This is largely because of the premium quality of the sheepskin. Natural shine is one of the aspects that differentiates premium sheepskins from regular quality sheepskins. Premium sheepskins only make about 10% of all sheepskins. Seeing as sheep are never held for their skins, but for the local meat production, no sheep is specifically bred to have a premium quality sheepskin, as sheepskins are natural byproducts.
